It’s difficult to predict how we will look when we grow up, but regardless of how unique our looks are from those of others, we should be confident in who we are. Similar to the foster cat in our story today, she was rescued and grew up looking quite different from her pals. Nevertheless, she has such a wonderful personality that she could easily win anyone’s heart.

Toast and 15 other kittens were rescued in Memphis, Tennessee, and brought to a foster home through Angels Among Us Animal Rescue. When Toast first arrived, she was in a pitiful condition. Her eyes were almost crusted over, and she was noticeably smaller than her fellow rescues. Hannah Taff, Toast’s foster mom, described her as about half the size of the others and barely able to walk around.

As the weeks went by, Toast’s health began to improve significantly. However, something peculiar started happening. While the rest of the kittens appeared normal, Toast’s fur became absolutely wild. In addition, she always has the look on her face of someone who just woke up from the longest nap ever. Everyone who knows her has found it puzzling that no matter how often she is groomed, she always appears disheveled.

“She does get bathed and brushed daily,” Taff said. “A lot of people thought she just needed a bath to look normal—nope, she’s just special!”

She is a little different from her peers, but Toast has not seemed to notice that. She has a huge personality, so even if someone is initially put off by her appearance, she quickly wins them over.

“They almost always say, ‘She’s so ugly she’s cute,’ which is true,” Taff said. “But they all fall in love with her because of her amazing personality.”

Toast is an outgoing and playful kitten, despite the fact that she does have some eye issues that her foster mother is diligently working to resolve. She enjoys parkour-like activities, can be quite noisy, and is still working on using the restroom without making a mess. This kitten is simply a ball of energy. She could not care less about her appearance, and this little girl is always ready to engage in any wonderful play.
