The star performs a three-hour set in an array of eye-catching bodysuits and ball gowns.
Taylor Swift is back and she means it . The singer’s highly anticipated ‘Eras’ tour kicked off last weekend – her first full show in five years – and, as you’d expect, the impressive three-hour set featured a range of bespoke great looks.
The show was split into different sections to represent each of Swift’s albums , with outfits tailored for each era.
“The tour represents a very important moment in Taylor’s career, because she conceived and built it as a journey through the different moments, or as the title suggests, the musical eras that defined her career,” explains Alberta Ferretti, one of the designers behind one of Swift’s many ensembles on stage. “I am honored that she asked me to design dresses for this special occasion. I have always been fascinated by women who constantly question and challenge themselves and Taylor has shown through her work that she is a versatile artist, capable of constant transformation and development.’
Each look has been carefully considered and designed to capture the feel of each album: a flowy lilac Alberta Ferretti dressand a ruffled orange Etro design for Folklore or a one-legged snake Roberto Cavalli jumpsuit for Reputation . Here we map out her impressive touring wardrobe, from design sketches to the close-up details.
A Look Inside Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras’ Tour Wardrobe:
Zuhair Murad Couture
Taylor Swift kicked off her tour in a custom tulle ball gown by Zuhair Murad Couture – with gorgeous beading, sequins, pearls and crystal embellishments across the voluminous skirt and bodice. The impressive dress required 50 yards of tulle, while the elaborate design required more than 350 hours of handwork in the brand’s studio.
In addition to elaborate ball gowns, Swift performed on stage wearing an array of glittery bodysuits. She closed the show in a gorgeous deep midnight blue leotard (appropriate to perform songs from her most recent album, Midnights ), designed by Oscar de la Renta, with beaded fringe and thousands of crystals, paired with matching shimmering boots.
Swift wore a gold-lined Roberto Cavalli couture mini dress designed by creative director Fausto Puglisi, which she paired with a pair of silver cowboy boots. The dress shimmered with embroidered metallic fringes that formed a zigzag pattern, with a sweetheart neckline.
One of her most dramatic looks of the night was this one-legged jumpsuit by Roberto Cavalli. The design featured a black sheer sleeve, shimmering fabric, and a three-dimensional embroidered snake motif that snaked from the bottom of her leg to the top of her neck. The ruby hose contrasted with the design’s black fabric, which she paired with black ankle boots.
Roberto Cavalli
Swift also opted for a matching crop top and skirt as part of her impressive tour wardrobe, in what was her third Roberto Cavalli look from the show. She wore this embroidered top and miniskirt in a fun fuchsia hue, with beaded detail that moved as she danced.
Swift paired an embellished Versace bodysuit with silver Christian Louboutin knee-high boots.
The singer wore a sparkly silver blazer over her bodysuit – the ultimate partywear look.
Nicole + Felicia
In addition to the shimmering Zuhair Murad gown, the performer wore a custom crystal-embellished ball gown designed by Nicole + Felicia.
The singer also performed in a more delicate look in the form of this flowy, tiered lilac gown by Alberta Ferretti.
“Thinking about these stage dresses for her also prompted me to think about my career milestones,” Ferretti explains. “I think what we’ve created reflects this journey in which the key elements of my style stand out: lightness, femininity, romanticism, attention to detail and a delicate, soft seduction.”
This fringed Roberto Cavalli dress (her fourth piece from the Italian brand) featured two-tone gold and silver crystals.
Swift’s second Oscar de la Renta look consisted of a sequined “aurora borealis” T-shirt dress and a matching lavender faux fur coat, which also featured delicate crystal drops.
