We have all heard of, perhaps even seen, stories of animals ᴍᴏᴜʀɴing the ʟᴏss of a loved one. Dog’s trying to get a response from a fᴀʟʟᴇɴ companion, an elephant ᴍᴏᴜʀɴing the ʟᴏss of a baby calf. But rarely do we hear stories of house cats doing something similar. A sᴛʀᴀʏ cat in China is about to change that. In the story below we see a cat who, despite being very sᴀᴅ, still tries to hug her friend’s ᴅᴇᴀᴅ body.

According to viewer accounts, the white and orange cat stood on top of her friend’s ʟɪfᴇʟᴇss body and tried to ʀᴇᴠɪᴠᴇ her. The cat didn’t seem to know his friend was ᴅᴇᴀᴅ. He’s still thinking his friend is sleeping and trying to drag him somewhere safe. In ᴅᴇsᴘᴇʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴ, the cat took the ʟɪᴍᴘ ᴄᴏʀᴘsᴇ to its mouth and began to drag her to a nearby sʜᴇʟᴛᴇʀ for help.

Not easy, the cat sᴛʀᴜɢɢʟᴇd to get his friend away. She was clearly ᴇxʜᴀᴜsᴛᴇᴅ but still ᴅʀᴀɢɢᴇᴅ herself forᴡᴀʀd step by step. After a while, he finally brought his friend to safety and tried to wake him up not knowing that the cat could not wake up anymore.

Although no one has any idea as to the reason for the other cat’s ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ, this cat’s devoted devotion has moved our hearts. It was clear that the cat was not yet ready to let her friend go. We sinᴄᴇʀᴇly hope that this ᴍᴏᴜʀɴing cat finds the strength to ᴅᴇᴀʟ with her ʟᴏss.

No one knows what happened to the cat and his friend. From people commenting that he wants privacy with his fᴀʟʟᴇɴ friend to ɢʀɪᴇᴠe. Or that he is hoping to find somewhere for his friend to recover, thinking he is just stunned from the impact? We can never truly know the depth of this cat’s ɢʀɪᴇf at ʟᴏsɪɴɢ his companion. That they, just like us, experience ɢʀɪᴇf.
