This is Sam – a poor cat suffering from a rare disease that requires timely treatment

One cat at a time took in two 8-9 month kittens this week. This is Sam ?

They were evaluated at our partner clinic and both have hernias. Normally, a small hernia is removed in a regular clinic. Unfortunately, in their case, it is more complicated and we must opt for a surgery in a specialized hospital. They are at risk of intussusception and other complications that are even more expensive. We are talking about almost $8K to operate on both of them. We are looking to transfer one of them to an organization that would like to join us because, just for us, it’s a lot and that, just before the holidays!

We are starting with the kitten who is considered more urgent to do, our little Sam! He’s undergoing surgery right now and we need $4000 to pay for the surgery, x-rays and a consultation. When you take a new case, sometimes, it’s like a surprise bag… you don’t know what’s coming. Sometimes, you see the worst and it’s not so bad ? Sometimes, you think it’s going to be okay and it’s more complicated than you thought!

Sam comes from a farm ?

and we would like to point out that those animals are fed and have access to a warm space. They are probably better off than in the back streets of Montreal. The person on the farm was very grateful that we gave the 2 kittens a chance. They are not feral and have a chance to be adopted afterwards. We are offering them a new life!

It has been almost a week since our beautiful Sam had his surgery to remove the hernia he had. ? He also had a conjunctivitis and is currently under treatment. Sam must be feeling a little lighter without the big hernia he had under his belly. He is on forced rest, but is allowed small breaks with his foster mom who takes the opportunity to spend time with him. We accepted Sam not knowing that he had a brother in the same situation. We were unable to leave his brother behind on the farm. Both deserved a chance to receive the same care. Tomorrow we will introduce you to the handsome Frodo! ?

Sam is enjoying the indoor cat life ?

the end of November, we accepted Sam and Frodo, because they had very severe umbilical hernias at risk of complications. They were living on a farm and someone asked us for help to give them a better life. We needed to raise $6500 for corrective surgeries for our two protégés and it was all possible thanks to you all! The money was raised in about 2 1/2 weeks, and all this just before Christmas! This was our Christmas miracle. ?

Since then, our two little protégés are recovering from the surgery. Frodo’s blood test indicated an abnormal kidney value and when he was assessed on January 6th, everything was back to normal! The two 10 month old kittens have gingivitis to watch. They are currently on dental food and have a cleaning gel (BreathaLyser) to help with their oral bacterias! We really hope they don’t need dental surgery at their age! ?

They are both very sweet and affectionate. Frodo is still a little more fearful, but he purrs and asks for hugs as soon as you start petting him. He just forgets sometimes that he is now a house cat and not afraid of humans, but then remembers very quickly hehe! Sam is a cat who seems to have lived in a house all his life. He’s a handsome boy who has beautiful eyes and asks to be held. Nobody can resist his big blue eyes! They are truly good cats and will be up for adoption at the end of the month if all goes well for their vet follow-up on January 27, 2022. ?

We thank you for helping us to save them. We thank you for getting involved in our project just before the holidays! We can’t change the world and save them all, but we know we have changed their world at least! We are making a difference, one cat at a time! ?

THANK YOU ?

Sam, better known as Sammy boy! ? Have a great weekend everyone! ?

Our little Sam, aka as Sammy boy ? has been with us since late November. He had a severe umbilical hernia with risks of complications which was corrected with a surgery! During his last appointment at the vet to receive his last vaccines, he had a little bit of a reaction to the vaccines, but he is recovering well! He also has an ear infection and conjunctivitis. He needs a dental surgery which is scheduled for March 1, 2022. He doesn’t have it easy our beautiful Sam, but we are working hard to make sure he is healthy before his adoption! We can’t wait to show you his adoption form, he’s such a perfect cat, so much so that even we would like to keep him haha! ❤️cat
