A cat owner in Pennsylvania says that her feline is a hero after it was hit by a bullet that ricocheted through the room where her son was sleeping.
Angelica Sipe, of York, says that her ginger cat Opie ‘took a bullet’ for her son Daemire, 3, when the stray projectile came through a window in her house early.
‘The first thing I did was check on my son and he was sound asleep. Then I saw my cat on the floor and that’s when I realized my cat was shot,’ Sipe said.

Opie had blood on his head, where the bullet entered before leaving through the bottom of his neck, reentering at his shoulder and then exiting through his armpit, according to his owner.
The bullet is said to have then ricocheted off of a pillow before almost hitting Daemire.
‘If my cat was not laying where he was the bullet would of hit my son,’ Sipe said.
Veterinarians gave Sipe the option to put the wounded cat down, but she decided to have her moggy undergo surgery.
