Shotzie, Brandy Miller’s household cat, has never done anything heroic before. Brandy had always suspected the 11-year-old cat of being a loner.
Brandy explained to The Dodo:
“She’s not a particularly popular feline.” She just wants to be around my mother and my stepfather, Kirk. She typically hides when someone comes. And if I get too close to her, she’ll start hissing. She simply does not care about me or my sisters ».
Kirk Mathis, Brandy’s stepfather, died of a heart attack on March 2 at the house he shared with Brandy’s mother, Tammy.
Brandy explained:
“My stepfather was getting ready for work; he goes to work at 4 a.m. I believe he had just finished feeding [Shotzie] and was about to go out the door when he suffered a severe heart attack. He hit the ground after falling rearward ».
Brandy explained:
“He dashed back into the room, hopped on the bed, slithered on his blanket, pounced at [my mother’s] head, and let out the most deafening roar to startle her awake. ‘Shotzie roared like a mountain lion,’ she claimed. It took an exceptionally loud and deep growl to get her up and moving, she claimed.”
Shotzie had never produced a sound like this before, and Tammy was instantly concerned. Kirk was laying on the floor as Tammy entered the room.
“He began CPR on him right away but received no reaction. She summoned the fire department, who had to shock her three times before eventually getting a heartbeat from her.”
Kirk made it to the hospital just in time thanks to Shotzie, and the doctors were able to save his life and stabilize him. Kirk is back home, and Shotzie hasn’t left his side, according to Brandy. He’ll require surgery shortly.
Shotzie is in charge. Kirk
Brandy explained:
“Even when she goes to the restroom, she simply stares at Kirk. That cat will not allow him to leave his sight.”
Kirk will never forget what Shotzie did for him, and he will make sure she knows how much he appreciates it, according to Brandy.
Brandy is appreciative as well, and her opinion of Shotzie has shifted dramatically.
“We are very thankful he and my mother have this kitty in their life.” It’s even better since he’s gradually becoming closer to me. We’re not going to call her the nasty cat anymore.”
